Triund is a serene and alluring trekking destination, situated at a height of about 3000 metres above sea level. It’s a 7 kms gradual trek from Gallu Devi and about 9 kilometres long if the trek is via Dharamkot-Gallu Devi route or via the Bhashu waterfall route. Nestled in the lap of Dhauladhar Range, it offers jaw-dropping views of the lofty Dhauladhar ranges on one side, the Kangra valley on the other and also panoramic views of Bhagsu village, Dharamkot village, Mcleodganj and distant views of Shivalik hills along the way.
Triund attracts a lot of tourists every year from India and all over the world. It is moderately difficult in nature and appeals to adventure enthusiasts of all ages. One can feel the tranquility passing through mixed forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron. The amazing panoramic views from the top and along the way at different times of the day, dawn and dusk are a sight to behold. The moonrise and sunsets highlight the unique charming beauty of this place aswell.
General Tips
1. It’s a full day trek and advisable to start early in the day and return by dusk
2. Make sure you carry warm clothes irrespective of the season
3. Carry a walking stick if needs be
4. Wear good quality hiking boots or sports shoes
5. Carry a flashlight, an umbrella or rain-gear if required
6. One can camp overnight and explore further areas like Snowline, Ilaka etc. Extra charges will apply for overnight camping
